Married to her brother, the two co-ruled over Egypt until Cleopatra’s failed attempt to take sole power caused her to be banned from the palace. When Julius Caesar arrived to rectify the situation, she snuck back into the palace by demanding her staff roll her up in a rug and carry her to the general. This act won over Caesar, and Cleopatra went on to become the last Pharaoh of the Egyptian empire before Roman rule.
